Türkiye AI Ethics Institute aims to advance research in the field of AI ethics by providing a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge sharing, and critical analysis of ethical issues related to artificial intelligence. The institute’s research methodology involves engaging with experts from diverse backgrounds, including academia, industry, government, and civil society, to explore complex ethical challenges posed by AI technologies. By harnessing the principles of effective science communication, the institute democratizes access to cutting-edge academic research for all audiences, fostering a more inclusive and informed dialogue on AI ethics. Through initiatives such as  research summaries, columns, and the field dictionary, the institute seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice, empowering stakeholders to make ethical decisions in the development and deployment of AI systems.

Mission

Our mission is to develop knowledge, awareness, and policies to ensure the ethical development and use of artificial intelligence, and to fully reveal humanity’s ethical perspectives with an external intelligence, through the potentials of artificial intelligence. We aim to bring together academics, industry professionals, government officials, and the public across Turkey and the world to maximize the positive effects of artificial intelligence on society and minimize its potential harms. In doing this, we focus on ensuring that artificial intelligence technologies are fair, accessible, and sustainable for everyone.

Our fundamental vision is the responsible, accountable development of artificial intelligence that is in harmony with society and human advancements, and for artificial intelligence to assist humanity on its journey.

Objectives

Development of Ethical Principles: To create ethical principles that will guide the development and application of artificial intelligence. To support and encourage artificial intelligence applications that can go beyond human ethical consciousness.

Knowledge and Awareness: To inform and raise awareness about artificial intelligence and ethics among all segments of society. To create a broad understanding and knowledge base about the ethical use of artificial intelligence through educational programs, workshops, and conferences.

Research and Development: To conduct research on the ethical use of artificial intelligence and encourage national and international collaborations in this area. To collaborate with academics, industry experts, and policymakers to develop new policies and standards.

Policy and Regulation Development: To develop policies and regulations that support the ethical use of artificial intelligence. To work with governments and regulatory bodies to ensure the implementation of these policies.

International Cooperation: To develop collaborations on artificial intelligence and ethics at a global level. To lead in the creation and implementation of international standards.
